Kathleen Plinske will become the school’s fifth presi - dent . She previously served as executive vice president and provost of the college . STAR ARTISTS Orange County Public School Students A number of Orange County students were hon - Star Students ored for their artistic works that were submitted to Lake Mary Preparatory School Students the Ninth Circuit Court’s Exhibit A : Family Court A number of Lake Mary Preparatory School ( LMPS ) students were honored with awards recognizing Art Challenge . The exhibit’s theme revolved their academic achievements . The school’s Academic Excellence Award recognizes students who around students completing the statement , “ I am show a passion and commitment to excellence in a specific subject area , while the Academic strong because … ” and the artworks are now on Achievement Award recognizes students who worked tirelessly to improve their learning and devel - display in a virtual art gallery . A panel of judges opment . With health and safety protocols in place , Lake Mary Preparatory School held a special cere - selected winners from among three divisions : ele - mony in - person to honor the great achievements of its students and recognize them for their ser - mentary , middle and high school . The first - place vice , leadership and honor roll . winners were : Sophie A . Lebron of Vista Lakes Elementary School , Adriel Jonel Asia of Arbor Star Students Ridge Middle School and Daniel Demontagnac of Holy Family Catholic Dr . Phillips High School . School Students Students , parents , staff and teachers at Holy Family Catholic School ( HFCS ) were engaged in the spirit of giving in December , undertaking two service projects . The first involved collecting and donating more than 100 new pairs of children’s sneakers to the school’s sister diocese in the Dominican Republic . The other project was a collabora - tion between the school’s PK3 and sixth grade classes who collected and donated new socks and underwear for chil - dren to the West Orange Christian Service Center . Star Student Alexis D . Recently , eight students from Orlando Science Middle & High Schools attended the Florida High Schools Model United Nations ( FHSMUN ) Beyond 2020 Virtual Conference , where they competed in the categories of Security Council , United Nations Development Program ( UNDP ) and General Assembly . At the conclusion of the conference , Alexis D . was awarded Most Outstanding Delegate at the Democratic Republic of Congo , discussing “ Crisis Prevention and Increased Resilience ” in the UNDP . The annual day is designed to show solidarity against bullying and present a united call for acceptance , kindness and inclusion . Teachers and students partici - pated in a variety of activities and engaged in meaningful discussions on campus and in eLearning classrooms . STAR ARTIST Midori Visionary artist , activist and edu - cator Midori has been chosen by the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras ( FSYO ) as its Virtual Artist - in - Residence . Midori has been a leading concert violinist for over 35 years . During her time as the Virtual Artist - in - Residence , she will work closely with FSYO’s four classical orchestras . Star VOLUNTEERS Lake Highland Preparatory School Students , Parents and Employees In October , more than 1,000 Lake Highland Preparatory School stu - dents , par - ents and employees volunteered for service projects to provide sup - port to local charities across Central Florida for the school’s annual Heart of a Highlander event . The Highlanders undertook service projects such as packing 20,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger and creating videos and cards for senior citizens who are high - risk for COVID - 19 and may be unable to see their loved ones . Highlanders supported other local charities too including AdventHealth , Coalition for the Homeless , Fisher House , Miles To Go , Rise Against Hunger and Runway to Hope . ?
