SL 919 Pulisher's Note - FINAL_Layout 1 9 / 12 / 19 1 : 07 PM Page 1 p P U B L I S H E R ’ S N O T E A Note of Thanks As the proud publisher of Suburban Life magazine , a division of Del Val Media , I am happy to announce that we recently accomplished a huge milestone . With this month’s issue , we are officially celebrating our 10 - year anniversary . Ten years is a long time to do anything , especially in 2019 . Our anniversary has given me an opportunity to reflect on the many good things we have done over the past decade , as well as on the many things we have improved since we published our first issue in the summer of 2009 . It has also reminded me of the instances in which we missed the mark along the way ; as the saying goes , you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs . But those missteps have taught me as much , if not more , than I have learned from our many successes . Although this is a significant milestone for me personally — I had never worked anywhere for 10 years prior to this — such a milestone is never accomplished alone . The list of people who have made this happen begins with my former publisher / partner , Viki Angyal Gooch , and my first business partner , Barry Martin , both of whom worked with me more than 15 years ago , when I embarked on a career change . I would not be where I am today without their initial support . Also , I extend a huge thank you to Gerry Haggerty and Ed McCartney for investing all of the necessary resources needed to make Suburban Life a success , both for the enjoyment of our readers and for the return on investment for the numerous businesses and professionals that partner with us month in and month out to share their message through the pages of our print magazine , and through our digital and social - media products . What began as an idea has evolved into one of the region’s top lifestyle publications . We have a relatively small but diligent team , and every month I am humbled by the hard work and craftsmanship being done by our editorial , design and production , social media , and sales / marketing teams . I am grateful to have their support , enthusiasm , and dedication . Without those things , we would not be able to do what we have done for the past 10 years . We are also grateful to our clients and vendors who trusted us to help them provide advertising services and marketing results . They have pushed us to go further and continually improve our business on their behalf . Our success story would be incomplete without their contributions . Finally , we can’t thank our readers enough for spending time with Suburban Life , however they engage with us . We intend to continually improve the content in these pages and keep bringing you thoughtful stories about the businesses and business owners who are powering our local economy , as well as other editorial features to drive reader engagement . We look forward to exploring new heights this year and beyond . With the continued support of the many people I’ve mentioned above , I can honestly say I’m looking forward to the next 10 years .
